St. Xavier's School is a coeducational, secondary school in Burdwan (Bardhaman), West Bengal, India. Various co-curricular and extra-curricular activities are encouraged for the students' integral development.[1]
Beginnings
In 1961 Mr. K.P.A. Menon, District Magistrate of Burdwan, was unable to get his son admitted to the Jesuit-run St. Xavier’s Calcutta. But in 1964 the Calcutta Province Jesuits came to help him establish St. Xavier's School, Burdwana. In the meantime, along with some local ladies, he laid the groundwork for the school, beginning with a nursery in 1963. Burdwan Educational Trust was formed as its governing body with Mr. Menon as its first president and Jesuit Fathers Gales and Hing as its first school administrators.
