St. Joseph's College for Women, Alappuzha
St. Joseph's College for Women, Alappuzha, is the first women's college in Alappuzha district, Kerala, India. It is run under the aegis of the Canossian Daughters of Charity, the international congregation found by St. Magdalene of Canossa, of Verona, Italy.
The college was established in 1954. It was reaccredited with A grade, by the National Accreditation and Assessment Council. The college celebrated its Diamond Jubilee in 2014.
The notable alumnae include Tessy Thomas, the missile woman of India, Mini Antony, IAS, M. Margaret Peter, the erstwhile Mother General of the Canossian Congregation. Jalaja, the Malayalam actor of yesteryears, Devi Chandana, dancer and cine artiste, and the actor Saranya Mohan.
