The Spondweni virus (SPOV) is an arbovirus which is a member of the family of Flaviviridae and the genus flavivirus. Transmitted by mosquitoes, it is responsible for Spondweni fever, which is characterized by a fever, chills, nausea, headaches, malaise and epistaxis.[1] SPOV is found in sub-Saharan Africa and Papua New Guinea.

It is phylogenetically very close to the Zika virus,[2] with whom it forms a clade within the genus flavivirus.
