Spence is an unincorporated community in Monterey County, California.[1]
It is located in the Salinas Valley, on the Southern Pacific Railroad 7 miles (11 km) southeast of Salinas.[2] It is at an elevation of 82 feet (25 m).[1]
The town was named in honor of David Spence, owner of the Rancho Encinal y Buena Esperanza Mexican land grant, where the railroad built its station.[2]
