Spalding is a village in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan. The town is named after Spalding, Lincolnshire, birthplace of the wife of the first postmaster for Spalding. The local economy is dominated by agriculture.[4]
History
The town has two municipal heritage properties:
- Reynold Rapp Residence is the historic home of Reynold Rapp a Russian immigrant to Canada in 1929 and lived in the home from 1948 until 1971, he served in municipal politics (1950 to 1957) before being a member of parliament (1958 to 1968). The building was constructed in 1925 in 1971 it was donated to the community as a museum and was opened in 1972 by John Diefenbaker.[5]
- Spalding United Church is a historic wood frame church built in 1926. The design uses Gothic Revival and Tudor Revival elements.[6]
Spalding is the birthplace of the actress Kari Matchett. [7][8]

The Village of Spalding is a thriving community with many businesses; Co-op Grocery and Gas/Farm Supply, Tavern, Credit Union, Bowling Alley, Skating and Curling Rink, Diner, Library, Community Health Center, Post Office, Seniors Center, RM & Village Office and Thompson Insurance.
The Saskatchewan Transportation Company provides inter-city bus service to the village.[11]
