Southbank tram depot is located in Southbank, a suburb of Melbourne in Victoria, Australia. It is one of 8 depots operated in the Yarra Trams network. The depot was opened in February 1997 on the site of the former Montague shipping shed, and replaced the now-demolished South Melbourne tram depot.
Layout
The main yard has 9 roads, 2 of these inside a maintenance shed.[1] There are also 2 stabling roads for the 3 Colonial Tramcar Restaurant cars, which also operate from this depot. Two entrances exist - namely East Gate and West Gate.
Rolling stock
Southbank Depot hosts a variety of trams: 29 W-class trams, 8 A1-class trams, 11 A2-class, 5 C2-class trams, 18 D2-class trams, and 21 E-class trams: a total of 83 trams.[1] Servicing of Z3-class trams from other depots is performed at Southbank, however these trams are not used on Southbank routes.
