South Point High School is a public high school in the Gaston County Schools public school district located in Belmont, NC. It's attendance range covers the southeastern portion of Gaston County and includes most of the City of Belmont as well as the community of Brown Town and the surrounding rural area. Gary Ford serves as principal. Assistant principals include Mitchell Allen, Kristin Bare, and Cindy Stewart. Kent Hyde serves as athletic director.[1]
History
In 1997, Gaston County transitioned from a junior high school system to middle schools. Today, the school occupies 156,485 square feet (14,537.9 m2) on a 33.7-acre (136,000 m2) campus.[3]
