South East Asian Airlines International
South East Asian Airlines International, also known as SEAIR International or SEAIR-I, is a low-cost airline headquartered in Clark, Philippines. Its main base is the Clark International Airport (formerly Diosdado Macapagal International Airport), in Pampanga, Philippines.
History
The airline was established as SEAir Inc, in 1995 and started operations on the same year. Its franchise however, was granted by Congress of the Philippines only on May 13, 2009 through Republic Act No. 9517.
After SEAIR's rebranding to Tigerair Philippines[1] and the acquisition of Tigerair Philippines by Cebu Pacific Air,[2] SEAIR International was formed[3] to cater to airports that cannot be reached by jet aircraft flying to former destinations such as Caticlan Airport in Aklan and Puerto Princesca Airport in Palawan.
Suspension
The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) ordered the suspension of the airline's Air Operator's Certificate effective May 18, 2015 due to various safety shortcomings that did not meet the safety standards under the Philippine Civil Aviation Regulations.[4] The following month, the CAAP lifted the airline's suspension.[5]
