Sourz is owned and produced by Beam Suntory The liqueur is usually served as a shooter, but also used in cocktails. It is known for being very sour.

The most frequently stocked flavor in bars is apple. However other flavors including cherry, tropical, raspberry, mango and toffee apple also exist. Two limited edition flavors are available during the year these are Summer Berry (in summer) and Cranberry and Apple (in winter). The alcohol by volume is 15%. Previously three other permanent flavours, blackcurrant, peach and pineapple were available, however these have been discontinued.

In 2008 a major re-design of the Sourz brand occurred and the slogan 'Made For Mixing' was adopted to show the increased trend in mixing the liqueur with mixers such as lemonade, cola and fruit juices. As part of the re-brand a new flavor was released, this being blackcurrant. In October 2012 a limited edition flavor was added to the range following a poll on Facebook. Users voted for Mango to be the new flavor, which is now part of the permanent line up.

In late 2014 there was another redesign of the packaging, with UV ink used on the bottle to make it stand out in night clubs. In 2015 a new limited edition flavor was launched called Rainbow Ice.
