Søren Nystrøm Rasted (born Søren Rasted on 13 June 1969 in Blovstrød, Denmark) is a Danish musician, producer and songwriter.[2] He plays keyboard, guitar and sings backing vocals. He is one of the four members of Danish-Norwegian pop band Aqua, and is married to the Aqua vocalist Lene Nystrøm.

Rasted and Claus Norreen were voted, in the US, two of the ten best pop songwriters/producers who have ever come out of the Scandinavian pop scene.

On 25 August 2001, Søren married fellow Aqua band member Lene Nystrøm, with the ceremony being held in Las Vegas. In 2004 the couple moved to Denmark from London. Together, they have a daughter, called India and a son called Billy.

Personal life

Søren Rasted married Lene Nystrøm on 22 May 2001 in Las Vegas. After living in London for many years, the couple moved to Denmark in 2004, to live there permanently. On November 6, 2004, Lene Nystrøm gave birth to their first child, a daughter named India. The couple had a second child, a boy named Billy, in spring of 2006.

Musical career

Rasted is probably the most successful songwriter to ever come out of Denmark. He is a member of the Danish pop-dance group Aqua, with as many as 10 top 10 hits. He and his fellow band member Claus wrote and produced the three Aqua albums Aquarium, Aquarius and Megalomania. Aqua was formed in 1994 and split up in 2001, but reunited in 2008. The band sold more than 28 million records worldwide, and appeared in the Guinness Book of Records as the only debut band with three "self penned" Number One hits in the UK. Rasted has received more than 140 Gold and Platinum albums (and received a Diamond album in Canada for 1. mill sold albums), including awards for best songwriter/producer.

The Aqua # 1 hits were: "Roses Are Red", "My Oh My", "Barbie Girl", "Good Morning Sunshine", "Lollipop (Candyman)", "Happy Boys and Girls", "Cartoon Heroes", "Around the World", "Dr. Jones" and "Back to the 80's".

In 2004 Rasted released the spoken word album Lazyboy TV under the name Lazyboy - released in 15 countries. The album contained 3 single hits: "Facts of Life", "Inhale Positivity" and "Underwear Goes Inside the Pants" that went gold in Australia.

Rasted has worked as producer and songwriters on various Danish artists such as Sort Sol writing their biggest radio hit "Holler High". Rasted also did "the number one best selling album in 2003" for the popstar winner Jon including hits like "Right Here Next to You" and "This Side Up".He also wrote the single "Teardrops in Heaven" for the Danish female artists Sanne Salomonsen, The #1 5xPlatinum Single "Det bedste til sidst" for X-Factor winner 2010 Linda, and The best selling single for Mathias Pachler "Mit Et & Alt".

In 2006 Rasted wrote and arranged music for "Det Kgl Teater" the music for the Royal Danish Opera ballet called American Mixtures.

Rasted is a member of the Danish band Hej Matematik. Their #1 "platinum selling album" Vi Burde Ses Noget Mere 2007 includes the 4 singles: "Gymnastik", "Centerpubben", "Du & Jeg" and "Walkmand". Their 2. #1 album "Alt gaar op i 6"" included the 3 singles "Party i provinsen", "Legendeborn" and "Kato paa Maskinerne". In 2012 Hej Matematik released "Livet i Plastik"

He has also made various TV scores and film scores.

In 2009 Soren Rasted single-handedly produced the 3 new Aqua songs for the "Best of" Album: "Back to the 80's", "Live Fast - Die Young" and "My Mamma Said". The platinum selling single "Back to the 80s" broke the record of being the "most played song on Danish radio ever" kicking "Maneater" from 2006 off the top spot. The second single "My Mamma Said" also became a platinum selling single was also written and produced by Soren in his studio "Elektron Studio" based in Copenhagen.

in 2011 Rasted wrote and produced with Claus Norreen, Rene Dif and Lene Nystrøm the 3rd Aqua album "MEGALOMANIA". With the two number one singles "How R U Doin" and "Playmate to Jesus". It was followed by a European/ Australia tour.

In 2012 Rasted started the Label "LabelLand" distributed by ArtPeople.

In 2012 Rasted and Nicolaj Rasted did the songs and the score music for the Jonatan Spang movie "Talenttyven".

In 2012 Rasted recorded the first Lazyboy track in 7 years - "2012 Shift Happens" in his studio "Electron studio".
