Sophia Gennusa (born 23 October 2003) is an American child actress most known for her role as Matilda, in the original Broadway cast of Matilda the Musical.
Career
Gennusa is best known for debuting the role of Matilda Wormwood in the Broadway production of Matilda alongside Bailey Ryon, Oona Laurence, and Milly Shapiro at Shubert Theatre. She returned to Broadway for a revived production of Doctor Zhivago; previews began March 27, 2015 and it opened on April 21, 2015 at Broadway Theatre. It closed after less than a month of being open after 26 previews and 23 regular performances, the last performance was on May 10, 2015. She is currently recording an album/EP.

Gennusa lives in Westchester with her parents.
Awards
She performed in Matilda until December 21, 2013. She later won a Tony Honor with Oona Laurence, Milly Shapiro, and Bailey Ryon for their outstanding Broadway debut in the show. She was also nominated for a Grammy Award for the cast album.
