Somlata Acharyya Chowdhury is a Bengali singer from West Bengal, India. She is a playback singer in Tollywood films and also has her own solo album. She is also a guest lecturer of psychology at the Asutosh College in Kolkata.[1][2]
Early life
Somlata was born in a family of erstwhile zamindars. Her father Shyamal Acharyya Chowdhury is the descendant of the Muktagachha zamindar family of Mymensingh, while her mother's ancestral home was in Noakhali. In her childhood, she started training in Indian classical music under Pandit Biresh Roy from the age of nine.
