Socchieve (Friulian: Soclêf ) is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Udine in the Italian region Friuli-Venezia Giulia, located about 110 kilometres (68 mi) northwest of Trieste and about 45 kilometres (28 mi) northwest of Udine. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 1,009 and an area of 66.0 square kilometres (25.5 sq mi).[1]
The municipality of Socchieve contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Caprizi, Dilignìdis, Feltrone, Lungis, Mediis, Nonta, Priuso, and Viaso.
Socchieve borders the following municipalities: Ampezzo, Enemonzo, Forni di Sotto, Ovaro, Preone, Raveo, Tramonti di Sopra, Tramonti di Sotto.
