Slovakia is scheduled to compete at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 5 to 21 August 2016. This will be the nation's sixth consecutive appearance at the Summer Olympics after gaining its independence from the former Czechoslovakia.
Athletics
Slovak athletes have so far achieved qualifying standards in the following athletics events (up to a maximum of 3 athletes in each event):[1][2]
- Men's 800 m – 1 quota place (Jozef Repčík)
- Men's 20 km walk – 1 quota place (Matej Tóth)
- Men's 50 km walk – 3 quota places (Matej Tóth, Martin Tišťan, Dušan Majdán)
- Men's high jump – 1 quota place (Matúš Bubeník)
- Men's hammer throw – 1 quota place (Marcel Lomnický)
- Women's 400 m – 1 quota place (Iveta Putálová)
- Women's 800 m – 1 quota place (Lucia Klocová)
- Women's marathon – 1 quota place (Katarína Berešová)
- Women's 20 km walk – 2 quota places (Mária Gáliková, Mária Czaková)
- Women's triple jump – 1 quota place (Dana Velďáková)
