Skid Row (album)

Skid Row is the self-titled debut studio album by American heavy metal band Skid Row, released on January 24, 1989 through Atlantic Records. The album charted at No. 6 on the U.S. Billboard 200 and has been certified 5× Platinum by the RIAA. Released from the album were the top 10 singles "18 and Life", "I Remember You" and the mainstream rock hit "Youth Gone Wild", with all three singles featuring music videos. Skid Row is the band's most commercially successful album, having sold five million copies in the United States alone.^[3]

Skid Row received generally positive reviews. AllMusic said that the album had "melodies and songwriting [that] are pretty consistent", and gave it a score of four stars out of five.^[1] A Sputnikmusic staff review, which also rated the album as four out of five, said that Skid Row had a "strong footing in pop, rock and metal which could stand out from the crowd on its own merits".^[6]
