Sirma Group Holdings is the biggest group of IT companies in Bulgaria. Founded in 1992, the group now consists of over 20 affiliated companies and joint ventures that specialize in different areas of IT sectors. They specialise in many different sectors such as Enterprise Business Solutions, Financial & Banking Services, e-Government, Security Applications, Mobile Applications. Providing human and financial capital, the company lay the foundations for successful future market leaders. The company is part of the annual ranking for IT companies.

History

Sirma Group Holdings are situated in Sofia, Bulgaria. Founded in 1992 by a group of university students, friends and classmates. In 1995 there was building a strategy for the formation of separate specialized units of Sirma. In 1996 WorkLogic Corp. (then Workshop) is based with a head office in Ottawa, Canada. The unit specializes in systems management workflow. “Sirma” has made development of large-scale projects in the field of e-business and e-commerce for companies in the USA. In 1999 the company won The European Award for Information Technology. In 2000 WorkLogic Corp. successfully implemented systems for managing workflow in the Library of Parliament and the Agency for conducting federal elections in Canada. In 2001 “Sirma Group Holding” is given as an example of successful development in a number of Bulgarian and International Studies. The number of employees exceeds 60 people. In 2002 Sirma Solutions won a major project of the Ministry of Defense for developing a system for automated control of artillery division. The same year it won another major project of Bulbank for providing IT consulting and developing highly specialized banking software. The following year Sirma Group implemented a system of quality management ISO 9001: 2000. In 2004 the Group became a shareholder and main technological partner in System for Electronic Payments - SEP Bulgaria. The same year it won a first place in the category "Growth and Efficiency" (rating of IDG). In 2005 “Sirma Group Holding” started its science-educational portal. In 2008 “Sirma”began the process of restructuring the Company in order to build a holding structure. In the following year, the restructuring of the group into a holding structure was successfully completed and the number of staff exceeded 400 people. “Sirma” won first place in the category "Best Mobile Internet Security Award” in the prestigious international competition for mobile innovation SIMagine Awards 2011.[1] The following year Sirma Solutions develops Loyaks - an innovative platform for business loyalty. In 2014 Sirma Group Holding had taken 14th place in the ranking for Bulgarian IT companies and it was announced as the Bulgarian biggest IT group.[2]

Presently, the group are developing technology in new directions like automated photo and video tagging and much more within their mobile services as well as being interested in robotics which they are hoping to explore in the future. They are supporting a number of different initiatives and projects in the IT field which have the potential to be successful.

The project is called Yagajobs and is a kind of aggregator of information about jobs and general trends in the British labor market. The program collects information from more than 355 British exchanges work. It allows looking for vacancies on various parameters such as location, position, remuneration and others. The platform can be easily integrated with other software applications, online services, as well as various business processes through the created "Ontotext" API interface (Application Programming Interface - an interface for application development)[6]

The IT Company introduced a software system for two American museums - the National Gallery of Art in Washington and the Metropolitan Museum in New York in 2015. The value of the project, financed by the Foundation Andrew W. Mellon, was around 2 million dollars. The new technology platform called Conservation Space and a system to document collaboration and management processes of restoration of works of art. The aim of the new technology is to provide an environment for collaboration and reflection on the work of professional restorers of large and small museums worldwide. It helps in the exchange of information about different artwork. The platform provides them with the opportunity to reflect and share detailed information as high resolution photos, X-rays, research material, expertise, information from previous work on the exhibits and publications. The system is entirely web-based and developed as an application of "Sirma ITT."The basis is using the special database of "Ontotext" which allows for easy and accurate processing of information and data search - GraphDB.[7]

The intelligent software, suggests the authenticity of the user-generated content on the Internet. The project is called Pheme and it was developed by nine partners - the Bulgarian is "Ontotext" - part of the "Sirma Group Holding” and the other participants are from Britain, Germany, Austria, Spain, Switzerland and Kenya. To analyze the truthfulness of the information, the team uses innovative algorithms for machine learning. This is how "phemes" are found - a term created by the team of Pheme, which gives value "true" or "false" to the term "meme", which represents ideas, rumors or other units of content on the Internet.This could allow journalists and normal Internet users to check the authenticity of the Web content and the ethical issues in relationship with users of social networks.[8]

Sirma Group Holding launched the long-awaited initial public offering (IPO) of its shares in September 2015. The decision to go on the stock exchange was taken in the late 2014 at a general meeting with shareholders of the holding.[9] After being twice returned for revision, the prospectus for the offering was finally approved by the Financial Supervision Commission in July 2015. Sirma will offer 16 million new shares at prices ranging between 1.20 and 1.65 lev, which means that the maximum amount that can be raised is 26.4 million lev, while the market capitalization of the holding will be over 100 million lev.[10]
