Siam Hanghal (born 26 May 1993) is an Indian professional footballer who plays as a central midfielder for NorthEast United in the Indian Super League on loan from Bengaluru FC in the I-League.

Career

Early Career

Before becoming a professional, Hanghal was trained as a youth at the Tata Football Academy along with the likes of Robin Singh.[1] He then signed for the All India Football Federation developmental side Pailan Arrows to play in the I-League.[2] While with Arrows, Hanghal was loaned out to I-League 2nd Division side DSK Shivajians for the 2013 season.[3]

Bengaluru FC

Before the 2013–14 I-League season began it was confirmed that Hanghal had signed with new direct-entry side Bengaluru FC.[4] He then made his debut for the club on 22 September 2013 in the I-League against Mohun Bagan in which he started and played the full match as Bengaluru drew the match 1–1.[5] Then on 23 October 2013 he scored his first ever professional goal in the I-League against Dempo in which he found the net in the 6th minute as Bengaluru went on to win the match 3–1.[6]

NorthEast United

In July 2015 Hanghal was drafted to play for NorthEast United in the 2015 Indian Super League.[7]

International

Hanghal made his debut for the Indian U23 team against UAE U23 in a qualifier for the 2014 Asian Games.[8] Hanghal started against Uzbekistan U23 on 27 March 2015 in a 2016 AFC U-23 qualifier in the Bangabandhu National Stadium in Bangladesh.[9]
