Shouta Aoi (蒼井 翔太 Aoi Shōta) (born Noboru Yanagawa (柳川 昇 Noboru Yanagawa) on August 11, 1987 in Fukui Prefecture) is a Japanese singer, song writer,[2] voice actor and musical actor,[3][4] previously known as Showta.[1][5] He is represented by S Inc for voice acting, and Broccoli on the B-green label for singing.[6]
Predebut
Before debuting, he played tennis at elementary school, receiving many trophies.[7] In 2004, he competed in the Yamaha Teens' Music Festival, and won the Grand Prix for the Tokai Ibaraki Region and a place at the final of the national competition.[8] He attended the final along with Ataru Nakamura.[8]
Showta career
In 2005, he signed a contract with King Records, and debuted under the name Showta with the single "Negaiboshi" in July 26, 2006.[5][9] His song Trans-winter~Fuyu no Mukougawa~ are being part as insert soundtrack for Japanese Drama Damens Walker. He also made debut as Musical Actor for Fruit Basket Stage Play in 2008[10] as Saki Nakajima. In 2009, he decided to pursue his career as anime song singer and voice actor, so in January 14, 2010, he chose to not renew his contract with King Records to pursue his dream.[11]
Shouta Aoi Career
In 2011, he returned as "Shouta Aoi" and debuted as voice actor as the character Ryunosuke Matsushita in the anime Kimi to Boku in which he also sang the soundtracks "Sora" and "Tomorrow".[12][13]
In 2013, he debuted, as Shouta Aoi, with his mini-album Blue Bird on the music label B-Green,[14][15] and in January 2014 he released his first single, "Virginal", which peaked at number 8 on the Oricon Weekly Single's chart.[16] As of 2015, he has released three singles and one album under the name Aoi Shouta.[17]
