Yoo Soo-Young (Hangul: 유수영; born 23 October 1981, in Yokohama, Japan), more commonly known as Shoo (from her Japanese name Shū Kunimitsu (邦光 洙 Kunimitsu Shū)), is a South Korean singer, actress, and a member of the pop group S.E.S.. Although Korean, she lived in Japan for most of her early life. She got her start in the group by trying out in auditions for SM Entertainment (unlike the other two members, who were discovered through less conventional methods). She succeeded in getting noticed from the judges and was thus offered a spot in their girl group, which became known as S.E.S. (standing for Sea, Eugene, and Shoo, the three members).
S.E.S.
S.E.S. quickly became one of the most popular groups in Korea, helped in part by SM's strong marketing methods. In the group, Shoo was always the first to change her look (or at least, change the most drastically). She has admitted in interviews that she ran out of hairstyles and hair colours to have, because she had so many over the years.
Past S.E.S.
After the breakup of S.E.S. in late 2002, Shoo stayed with SM Entertainment unlike the other two members. She contributed to some more SMTown albums in 2003 and 2004, but eventually decided to leave SM for JIIN Entertainment in 2006,[2] the same company that Bada signed with. Instead of releasing solo albums like her former group members, Shoo instead joined musicals. In 2005, she starred in the Korean adaptation of Bat Boy: The Musical,[3] which sold over 110,000 tickets in Korea and Japan. She has since done other musicals, but has not been prominently in the spotlight since her S.E.S. times. However, she has gone on record as saying that a new S.E.S. album is in the works, but there is no official word as to when recording will begin. In December 2006, she stated that she will pursue acting, ending her singing career.[4]
In January 2010, Shoo came back with her first solo mini-album, Devote One's Love, with the lead track "Jagibaggae" (Korean: "자기밖에", "Only You").[5]
In December 2014, Shoo & Bada made a special comeback on Infinity Challenge EP. 410 "Saturday for Singers" performing two songs (I'm Your Girl & I Love You) with Girls' Generation Member Seohyun. Eugene could not join the others due to her pregnancy but stated wishing, "she could have been there."[6] And in January 2015, she also appared on the show "Roommate" with her twin daughters, Im Rayul and Im Rahui, and her husband, HyoSung. She met the celebrites of the show, including Sunny (Girls' Generation) and Joon-Hyung (g.o.d), two member of two member she already really saw before and stayed for more than one episode.
Family
She married Korean basketball player Im Hyo-Sung on April 11, 2010. On June 23, 2010 she gave birth to their first son Im Yoo. On July 2, 2013 she gave birth to twin daughters, Im Rahee and Im Rayul.
