Shohortoli is a Bangladeshi Theatrical Rock (Band’s signature genre) & Psychedelic rock music band formed on 6 October 2005. They are called the initiator of Theatrical rock music in Bangladesh, which is built on the idea of the mixture of theatrical poetry and Rock music. The word "SHOHORTOLI" means suburb in English. The name of the band is "SHOHORTOLI", Just Because all of the members of this band are from a sub-urban area named Mirpur, which is situated at the northern part of Dhaka City. All of the band members believe that they hold, all the values that they practice and all the air that they breathe are from this Mirpur.[1][2][3][4][5]
History
SHOHORTOLI started its journey at a lean lane of Mirpur in between 2004 / 05 (approximately). The journey was initiated by three individuals, namely; Mishu, Biddut, Galib. At that time it had no name. Then Sunny & Tapan came and made this setup a full-fledged one; and finally it became SHOHORTOLI. The title of the band was suggested by Mishu. Basically, the true bonding of friendship & brotherhood brought together these five individuals holding this setup; until lately; the band has three members now leaving behind the two of its old buddies (Galib & Biddut).
Band Interests
While most of the other bands would like to work on personal emotions; "Shohortoli" takes strong notes from our liberation war, contemporary lifestyle, urban chaos, inequality, corruptions and compose their songs thereby.
Influences
Shohortoli is influenced greatly by some other mainstream Rock bands like Moheener Ghoraguli, Pink Floyd, Opeth, Porcupine Tree, Blackfield, Doors, Symphony X, Poets of the fall, The Beatles, U2 etc.
