"Shiroi Kisetsu / Sakura Hitohira" (白い季節 / 桜ひとひら lit. "White Season / Cherry Blossom Petal") is the thirty-first single by Japanese recording artist Misia and first double A-side release since "Ginga / Itsumademo" (2009). "Shiroi Kisetsu" was written and composed by her0ism and Yūki Idei. The song is featured on the soundtrack of the TV Asahi drama Second Love starring Kazuya Kamenashi and Kyoko Fukada.[1] "Sakura Hitohira", also composed by her0ism, was written by Misia specifically for the TV Tokyo adaption of the film The Eternal Zero, starring Osamu Mukai, for which it serves as theme song.[2]

Both songs were released digitally on February 4, 2015 and February 11, 2015, respectively.[3] The physical CD single was released on February 18, 2015 in limited quantity and includes a piano rendition of "Shiroi Kisetsu" as hidden track.[4]

"Sakura Hitohira" was promoted as being Misia's first "sakura" song, a longstanding thematic in Japanese music.[4] Alongside "Shiroi Kisetsu", the songs are meant to represent the passage from winter to spring. The single features three B-sides, the Shiro Sagisu-produced "Mayonaka no Hide-and-seek", "Candle of Life", which Misia first performed during the 2014 installment of her Misia Candle Night concert series, and lastly a remix of the latter track.

On February 13, 2015, Misia announced the release of the first Misia Candle Night footage. The DVD and Blu-ray double-set will include the concert held on November 29, 2014 at the Nakagusuku Castle.[5] To commemorate the release of both the single and DVD/Blu-ray, purchasers of both items will be eligible for three different prizes. Prize A is a backstage pass for two at one of Misia's Hoshizora no Live VIII concerts, prize B is a trip for two at Nakagusuku Castle and prize C is an original candle by Misia.[6]

"Shiroi Kisetsu" and "Sakura Hitohira" debuted at number 7 and number 9 on the Recochoku weekly singles charts, respectively.[7][8] The physical CD made its debut at number 24 on the Oricon weekly singles chart.[9]
