Shen Shanbao
Shen Shanbao (沈善宝, 1808–1862) was a Chinese poet and writer active during the Qing Dynasty.
Her birthplace was Hangzhou, but she moved to Beijing in 1837. She was friends with the writer Ding Pei, who wrote a preview for her first poetry collection in 1836.
Shen Shanbao used her poems to express her sadness and despair. She wrote the Mingyuan Shihua, about women poets of the Qing Dynasty and poetry collections.
A painting of quail exists in the Nantoyoso Collection, now in Kyoto Japan. It is signed Xihu sanren and is dated 1823. If the attribution is correct then Shen Shanbao was an accomplished artist at age fifteen.
