Sheldon Reynolds (born September 13, 1959) is an American guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter. He is part of "Elements of Fire", who cover Earth, Wind & Fire songs.[1] He is a former member of Earth, Wind & Fire[2] and of the Commodores. He shared the writing credit for the Earth, Wind & Fire song "Sunday Morning", which was nominated for a Grammy Award for the Best R&B Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group in 1994.[3]
Reynolds is a "contributing editor" for Astronomy magazine.[4] He has a show[5] on Twilight Talk Radio.
Background
Born in Ohio, Reynolds began playing the guitar when he was eight years old, and by the age of 12 was considered a prodigy.[6] Towards the start of his professional career, he toured with singer Millie Jackson and later played for Capitol Records recording r&b band Sun.[6] In 1983 he joined The Commodores, and was with the group for four years. He also recorded with the group Chicago.[6]
Reynolds is best known as lead guitarist and vocalist with Earth, Wind, & Fire (EWF), remaining with them for 14 years.[5] He received an Image Award for lifetime achievement while a member of that group and in the mid-1990s was nominated for a Grammy award for the song "Sunday Morning", which he wrote and recorded with EWF.[6] Reynolds subsequently joined Experience Hendrix, the family company of Jimi Hendrix. Other well-known artist with whom Reynolds has worked as writer and performer include Kirk Whalum, the Pointer Sisters, Stephanie Mills, and Paula Abdul.[5][6]
Reynolds is accused of stealing an Acoustic Black Widow guitar by Jimi Hendrix [7]
