The subdistrict lies near a highway that links to Meixian and Chaozhou while the Shenzhen railway is also part of the transport links between Hong Kong and Beijing.
The town's attractions include Minsk World and an aircraft carrier moored in the bay.

In Hong Kong, the name Shatoujiao is spelled in Sha Tau Kok. In fact, both Shatoujiao and Sha Tau Kok are referring a same place. Since Cantonese is generally used for naming the places, roads and hills in Hong Kong while Putonghua (Mandarin) is used for naming the places, roads, and hills in Mainland China, the spelling of the name of such place is not the same in Hong Kong and the Mainland respectively.
