She was born Sharmila Velasco Pribhdas-Shahani to an Indian father [1] and a mother of Ilongga ancestry. She has a younger sister who is also an actress named Bunny Paras and their mother is the sister of the mother of Patrick Garcia and Cheska Garcia.
