Shannon Arrum Williams Lees (Hangul: 샤넌 아름 윌리엄스; born 26 May 1998), best known as Shannon, is a singer and actress of British and South Korean nationality, mostly active in South Korea. She is currently signed under DAP Sound, a division of MBK Entertainment.
Biography
Shannon's father, Chris Williams Lees is Welsh. Her mother, Jungmi Kim is Korean. Her Korean name is Arrum (Hangul: 아름; RR: Areum).
Shannon is also known as 'Shannon Pix', which is the name caused by misrepresentation during her appearance on SBS's Star King. According to her official Twitter account, she once considered using "Shannon Pix" as her stage name instead of "Shannon Williams".
Shannon has twin half brothers, Christian Lees and Jonah Lees, from her father's previous relationship. Both of them are actors and musicians.
While attending Sylvia Young Theatre School in the United Kingdom at the age of 7, Shannon was given the role of Cosette in Les Miserables musical performances.
Career
Pre-debut
She later came to South Korea in 2010 to appear on SBS's Star King. On the show, she expressed her singing excellence which received attention in 2011.
Shannon signed with Core Contents Media in 2011 and was able to achieve an exclusive contract with them.[1]
Prior her debut, Shannon was released single album, Day and Night featuring Areum (Former member of T-ara) and Gun-ji (Gavy NJ) in 2012.
In 2013, Shannon was recruited as a new member of F-ve Dolls. However, in July 2013, before debuting with F-ve Dolls, Shannon was withdrawn. The reason is that she wanted to be like her role model BoA.
Core Contents media stated launched a plan to debut her as a solo artist that would take about 1–2 years of training.[2]
On 23 November 2013, Shannon appeared on an IU episode of JTBC's Hidden Singer 2, and she was able to enter the final round.
2014: Debut with Daybreak Rain
On 18 January 2014, she performed IU's "Good Day" and Beyonce's "Listen" on the King of King round of JTBC's Hidden Singer 2, but she was unable to appear on the final stage.
On 29 January 2014, she released her new single, "Remember You", which featured Jongkook from Speed.
On 12 February 2014, Shannon and Dani performed "Let It Go", a song from the film Frozen, and Rihanna's "Diamonds" on SBS MTV's Speed showcase called Speed Day.
On 1 December 2014, Shannon released her debut single, "Daybreak Rain" debuted at number 32 on Gaon digital chart.[3] On 26 December 2014, she released a collaboration single, "Breath", with Vasco and Giriboy.
2015-present: Eighteen, Moorim School drama
On 5 March 2015 Shannon announced the impending release of her first mini album Eighteen and single "Why Why".
On 17 September 2015 it was announced that she will be appearing in the upcoming drama Moorim School, as Shannon, which start airing in January 11, 2016.[4]This was the first drama acting job that Shannon had received in Korea.
