Shane Tutmarc (born September 25, 1981) is an American producer, songwriter, singer and multi-instrumentalist. No Depression magazine described Tutmarc's music as "a sound where all the rules of alt. country (or anything usually tagged "Americana") are grinded down in a kaleidoscope of inventive, stylistic detours, with hints of surrealism."[1] Wanda Jackson called Tutmarc "one of my new favorite voices in rock and roll!”[2] Robin Pecknold of Fleet Foxes said, "Shane is someone I'm very proud to have played music with when we were both coming up in Seattle - he's got an amazing ear for melody and a restless spirit of invention.".[2]

Tutmarc is the great-grandson of Paul Tutmarc, who has been credited as the inventor of the electric bass . His grandfather, Bud Tutmarc, was a well-known Hawaiian steel guitar player. Shane was the leader of Seattle band Dolour from 1997 to 2007. He has played in several other bands, including United State of Electronica and Shane Tutmarc & The Traveling Mercies. In June 2009, Tutmarc released his first solo album, Shouting At A Silent Sky. In January 2010, he re-located to Nashville, TN.[3] Several of his songs have been featured on television programs, including Anthony Bourdain's The Layover on the Travel Channel, 30 for 30 Bo Jackson ESPN documentary, and Amish Mafia on the Discovery Channel.

Throughout 2013, Tutmarc released a series of covers, including Lana Del Rey's "Ride," Rilo Kiley's "Portions for Foxes" and Nirvana's "Aneurysm." [4]

Starting in January 2015, Tutmarc partnered with In Music We Trust Records to release a single-a-month series for the whole of 2015, which will be collected into a full-length album in 2016. [[5]]

Producing for Other Artists

In 2004, Tutmarc produced Ian McGlynn's debut album, "Tomorrow's Taken" (2004). In addition to producing and arranging the LP, Tutmarc also played many instruments including drums, synthesizer, guitar, and bass. In 2005, Sameer Shukla's debut album, "There's Only One Side Tonight" (2005), became Tutmarc's 2nd outside production. Again, Tutmarc played most of the backing instruments, including backing vocals. In 2013, Tutmarc produced Patrick Kinsley's debut EP, "Rattling the Cage" (2014), again performing most of the backing instruments himself. In late 2013-mid-2014, Tutmarc produced Tanya Montana Coe's debut album, "Silver Bullet" (2015). In addition to playing most of the instruments on the record, Shane is credited as a co-writer (with Coe) on three songs ("Let My Love," "Did I," and "You're Gonna Love Me").
