Sergio Villanueva (born 21 September 1988 in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico) is a Mexican professional boxer in the Featherweight division.[1] Villanueva is promoted by current WBC Champion, Mexican Saúl Álvarez' company Canelo Promotions.[2]
Professional career
In December 2010, Sergio beat the veteran Erick Perez, the bout was held at the Estadio Beto Avila, in Veracruz, Veracruz, Mexico.[3]
On June 18, 2011 Villanueva defeated Colombia's Onalvi Sierra. The bout was for the vacant WBC Youth World Featherweight Championship and was held on the undercard of Saúl Álvarez vs. Ryan Rhodes.[4][5]
