Seek 'n' Strike
"Seek 'n' Strike" is a 2002 Soulfly song, released as the lead single from the third studio album 3.
The official music video for this song was uploaded to YouTube by Roadrunner Records in 2010.[1] The video was filmed in the Mojave Desert in Arizona.
Lyrics and composition
The vocalist, Max Cavalera, performs lyrics about fighting the tribe for power. In the verse part, 'Here we go' is used as a conjunct every line and sung 32 times. In the chorus part, Max repeatedly sings 'Seek n Strike, Seek n Strike, Strike' five times per section and ten times throughout the song, but the first chorus ends by singing 'Seek n Strike' three times, and once at the end of the second chorus, totaling 14 times when the title phrase is repeated.[2]
This song plays in metal style exclusively, lacking tribal elements or world music pieces featured in many Soulfly songs to some extant. This song begins with metal drumming using steelpans and ends with a soft buzzing sound performed by a wind instrument. This groove metal/nu metal song lasts approximately 4½ minutes.
