Seaway Mall

Seaway Mall is an enclosed shopping mall at 800 Niagara Street in Welland, Ontario, Canada. It has 500,000 square feet (46,000 m2) of space and includes such tenants as Sport Chek, Cineplex Entertainment, Winners and Shoppers Drug Mart.[1][2]

History

Opened in 1975, The Seaway Mall is Welland's oldest enclosed mall. The mall originally featured two main department stores: Woolco and K-Mart.[3] The main department attraction to The Seaway Mall has changed over the years from Woolco, to Wal-Mart, followed by Zellers, and eventually Target.[4] However, in early January 2015, Target Canada decided it would be ending Canadian operations closing all stores in Canada.[5] When Target ends operations in April 2015 there will be a vacancy of the largest department section in The Seaway Mall. Sears also closed in August 2015.
