Attique Ahmed Khan
Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan is a Pakistani-Kashmiri politician who served as the Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir twice between 24 July 2006 to 6 January 2009 and between 29 July 2010 till 26 July 2011. He also presides over All Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference. He also served as the Leader of the Parliamentary Opposition from 15 January 2009 to 22 October 2009 and has been elected 5 times as Member Legislative Assembly.

He used of new political term as military democracy first time, that mean Chief of Army Staff should have a permanent political or highest rank of Peoples democracy as president. He is supposed a pro democratic ideology because his most of the tenure is passed with good relation with Army dictators. Because of some political differences with Raja Farooq Haider the political party Muslim Conference has already been changed its cover name as PML N in AJK. He is the son of a renowned political & social intellectual and founder of Kashmir Movement Sardar Mohammad Abdul Qayyum Khan who has a unique distinction of serving as President & Prime Minister of Azad Government of the State of Jammu and Kashmir for several times and introduced Social Democracy during his tenure as President/Chief Executive in the 1970s. Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan was born on 21 January 1955 in Ghaziabad, Bagh Azad Kashmir.

President All Jammu & Kashmir Muslim Conference – the oldest political party of the entire State of Jammu & Kashmir in its 80th year. Since 2002 unanimously elected consecutively for 3rd time (2002, 2006 & 2009) as 9th the President of the party. Elected 5 times as Member Legislative Assembly (MLA) of Azad Jammu and Kashmir since 1990. Elected first time as Prime Minister of Azad Government of the State of Jammu and Kashmir held this office from 24 July 2006 to 6 January 2009 Leader of the Parliamentary Opposition from 15 January 2009 to 22 October 2009. Re-elected 2nd time as Prime Minister by the same House which is a unique achievement in South Asian parliamentary practice on 29 July 2010 till 26 July 2011. As a political worker served as Chairman Youth & Students Wing (1984-1990) and later as Chief Organizer of the party (1992-2001). Introduced the concept of grassroot level political participation and consultation through formation of party units at polling stations level. As Chief Organizer of All Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference (AJKMC) expanded the party platform for the minorities/non-Muslims for the first time in the State. Founder Chairman of Pakistan Assembly of Muslim Youth (PAMY) that included mainstream youth leadership of all parties.

Ten points proposal presented to the United Nations-recognized OIC Foreign Ministers Conference Contact Group on Kashmir in UN HQ’s New York on 20–25 September 2006 delineating negotiated approach over Kashmir dispute which were adopted by the annual coordinating meeting of the 57-member countries of OIC. Led several political, humanitarian and diplomatic missions on sensitive regional issues to the World Forums/United Nations, Middle East, Europe, United States, Asia, Africa Acra (Ghana). Criticism
During his first year in office Mr. Khan made many trips overseas. He visited Europe, North America and even South America. It has been obvious that this gentleman was there to put pressure on international community for the peacful and viable solution to the Kashmir issue. Out of 2 years 5 months and 13 days as prime minister he has remained in the capital at Muzaffarabad for 155 days. He has spent 121 days in foreign trips and in Islamabad and for 615 days he has been in other cities of Azad Kashmir.
