Sankeshwar (Kannada ಸಂಕೇಶ್ವರ) is a town located in Hukkeri taluka, Belgaum district, in Karnataka. It is located on National Highway 4. It is 50 km north of Belgaum. It is located on the bank of the Hiranyakeshi river.

Sankeshwar is located at 16°16′N 74°29′E / 16.27°N 74.48°E.[1] It has an average elevation of 638 metres (2093 feet).
Demographics
As of 2011 India census,[2] Sankeshwar had a population of 34,445. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Sankeshwar has an average literacy rate of 67%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 75%, and female literacy is 59%. 13% of the population is under 6 years of age. Kannada language IS the major languages spoken here.
