Sandy David León (born March 13, 1989) is a Venezuelan professional baseball catcher for the Boston Red Sox of Major League Baseball (MLB). He previously played for the Washington Nationals.

Professional career

León was called up to the majors for the first time on May 13, 2012.[1] He made his Major League debut on May 14, 2012. In the fourth inning of his debut, León seriously sprained his right ankle, after a collision with Padres' third baseman Chase Headley at home plate[2]

Boston Red Sox

León was traded to the Boston Red Sox for cash considerations on March 30, 2015.[3] He was designated for assignment on July 21, 2015. On July 30, 2015 he was sent down to the Pawtucket Red Sox. He was re-added to the roster on September 1.
