Sandy Gennaro

Sandy Gennaro is an American professional rock and roll drummer, speaker, teacher and author.

Gennaro was born on Manhattan's Lower East Side and grew up on Staten Island, New York. He currently lives in Nashville, Tennessee.

He has toured/recorded with Cyndi Lauper, Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, The Pat Travers Band (1980–83/2010-present), Blackjack with Michael Bolton, Johnny Winter, Bo Diddley (MD) Robin Gibb, The Monkees, Joe Lynn Turner, Benny Mardones, Craaft, Lou Christie and Derek St. Holmes.

Since 2007, Gennaro has been a frequent and favorite counselor at David Fishof's Rock and Roll Fantasy Camps.

Gennaro is also an accomplished educator, having taught at The Collective (NYC) for 27 years before moving to Nashville where he still maintains a teaching practice. He created the music business program at The Collective besides giving private lessons and master classes.

Besides his musical accomplishments, he also enjoys motivational speaking and has delivered his message to FedEx, Belmont University, Guitar Center and Sam Ash.

As an author, he has written several articles for Modern Drummer magazine and is the creator of "Drum Basics" (DVD/Book-Alfred Publ) and "Contemporary Rock Styles for the Drums" (CD/Book-Hal Leonard Publ). He is currently working on his book entitled Beating the Drums and Beating the Odds in Music, Business and Life.

On December 31, 2015, Gennaro celebrates the 50th anniversary of the acquisition of his first drumset.

Gennaro proudly plays DW drums, Zildjian cymbals, Hot Sticks drumsticks and LP percussion.
