The Robert J. Frankel Stakes is an American Thoroughbred horse race run at Santa Anita Park early each year. A Grade IIIT event, it is open to fillies and mares, age four and up, willing to race one and one-eighth miles on the turf. The race currently carries a purse of $100,000.
Inaugurated in 1968 as the San Gorgonio Handicap, the race was renamed in 2010 to honor the late Hall of Fame trainer Robert J. Frankel.[1][2]
The race downgraded from Grade II to Grade III in 2012.
