Sama Ameen Dizayee (born 2 June 1988) is an Iraqi Kurdish radio and television personality.
Dizayee was born and raised in Baghdad. She studied Computer Sciences in Erbil till late 2009 and then she moved to the United States of America to pursue her Political Science studies.[1]
Early life
Sama started with her interest in media at the age of 15 where she started being a host on online radios such as VOY FM (Voice of Youth) and becoming the producer of the radio. She was also the main host and producer for the online radios Marina FM, Shabab FM and Iraq FM, big names in online radio industry in Middle East and Iraq . At the age of 17 she started her first experience being a journalist for the first English newspaper in Erbil, Kurdistan "The Kurdish Globe" where she published many articles. Along with that she worked at the same time with the student's magazine Ozone.
After a while Sama started working for the first English hosted radio station in Kurdistan "Zed Radio" where she hosted and co-hosted in English and Kurdish in her shows and her co-workers'.
Professional background
Sama was one of the newest faces of Al Sumaria TV Satellite channel. Al Sumaria is known as one of the leading Iraqi satellite channels in Iraq, broadcasting from multiple studios in the Arab countries, with millions and millions of viewers from more than 86 countries around the world. Al-Sumaria was ranked Iraq's #1 Satellite Channel in 2012.
Sama hosted Al-Sumaria's #1 most famous Ramadan show "Majina Ya Majina" directed by Walid Melki. She along with her colleagues won the award for "Best Ramadan Quiz Show" in 2011 by the Iraqi Minister of Culture.[2]
Sama now is hosted the Arabic charts show "Top 10" on Al-Sumaria with her friend and co-worker Bassam Mahdi where it used to be broadcast live from Lebanon everyday Friday at 17:30 telling us about the latest songs, making of's, clip of the week(chosen by the staff of the show) and the top 10 charts that are being voted by the viewers.
International contributions
Sama comes from a Political background family, the Dizayee, therefore she graduated with a degree in Political Science and International Relations to pursue a Political career in Kurdistan. She is now focusing on a Political career, having many contributions as a Political Analyst and writer on national and international news agencies such as; Voice of America, Associated Press (AP), BBC World Service, BBC World News, The Kurdish Globe (National Newspaper).[3]
