Syra Yousuf, also known as Syra Yousuf Khan (Urdu: سارہ یوسف خان ), is a Pakistani actress, model and VJ.[1]

Life

Yousuf was born in Karachi, Pakistan. Her mother is from Afghanistan and father from Pakistan. She did her 10th grade from Institute of Learning & Motivation (ILM), Peshawar. She is the sister of VJ Palwasha Yousuf and actress Alishba Yousuf.

On 21 October 2012, she married Shehroz Sabzwari, the son of actor Behroze Sabzwari in Karachi.[2] Yousuf gave birth to a baby girl in 2014 and is busy parenting since then.[3]

Debut and other work

Yousuf started as VJ at MTV Pakistan hosting Bheja Fry and Most Wanted. Due to her looks she made her acting debut in serial Mera Naseeb,[4] opposite Sanam Saeed Adeel Hussain. The serial was a critical success and her role as Nazia was appreciated by the viewers, earning her a Nomination for Best New Actress at Pakistan Media Awards.[5] She later appeared in various critical acclaimed and successful dramas like Mohabbat Rooth Jaye Toh and reached at boom through Bilqees Kaur.

In 2012, she appeared in the serial Tanhaiyan Naye Silsilay with her husband Shehroz Sabzwari a remake of the ever green Pakistani serial "Tanahaiyan" with actors such as Marina Khan Badre Khalil and Behroze Sabzwari. In 2013, she commenced the negative role of Aleena in Darmiyan along with Adnan Siddiqui and Sania Saeed.[6]

In 2014, she was seen essaying double role in Ru Baru as Neelam as the main antagonist and the main protagonist Sabeeha a shy and hopless girl. Syra was applauded a lot for the role of Neelum by the viewers and critics but wasn't able to do justice with Sabbeha. Yousuf has been out of screen for one year due attention to parenting.[7] She is expected to make a comeback with her upcoming serial in 2016.

As for the future, Syra is aiming to make her cinematic debut,[8] with two films already under her belt. She’s looking forward to her upcoming flick Love You Babylicious, alongside her husband, Shehroz Sabzwari.[7] She is also expected to appear in Jawad Bashir next venture – Teri Meri Love Story opposite Salman Shahid, Mohib Mirza and Mohsin Abbas Haider, the film is expected to release in April 2016.[9]

Modeling

At the age of 16 Syra started modelling. She has done more than 50 commercials. She is frequently seen doing photo shoots and showcasing her true modelling potential at the ramp walk.[10][11] She is also a promising show stopper. Lately, she won Veet Celebrations of Beauty Awards[12] for Most Beautiful Smile Award[13] and Sunday Award for Best Showstopper Award.[14]
