The year 2011 was the 1st year in the history of the SUPERKOMBAT Fighting Championship (SUPERKOMBAT), a kickboxing promotion based in Romania. 2011 started with SUPERKOMBAT The Pilot Show and ended with SUPERKOMBAT World Grand Prix 2011 Final. It started broadcasting through a television agreement with Eurosport.

SUPERKOMBAT The Pilot Show was a kickboxing event held by the SUPERKOMBAT Fighting Championship on March 18, 2011 at the Sala Sporturilor Traian in Râmnicu Vâlcea, Romania.[1]
Background
Team Romania met Team Italy, and 22-year-old local Mihai Barbu fought in a WAKO-Pro World Middleweight Title Match against the title holder Arnaldo Silva of Portugal. The rest of the card was filled with exciting matchups. Featured on the card were several K-1 veterans including Cătălin Moroșanu, Sebastian Ciobanu, Dževad Poturak and Freddy Kemayo.[1]

SUPERKOMBAT World Grand Prix I 2011 was a kickboxing event held by the SUPERKOMBAT Fighting Championship on May 21, 2011 at the Patinoarul Mihai Flamaropol in Bucharest, Romania.[3]
Background
A four-man heavyweight tournament took place, featuring Sergei Lascenko, Dževad Poturak, Roman Kleibl and Jairzinho Rozenstruik. Rico Verhoeven fought American Justice Smith in the reserve bout. Romanian K-1 veteran Sebastian Ciobanu took on Rastislav Talarovič in a heavyweight super fight. K-1 star Albert Kraus fought Romanian Marius Tiţă in a middleweight super fight. Right before the heavyweight tournament final, rising Romanian star Bogdan Stoica fought in a WAKO-Pro Intercontinental Cruiserweight Title Match against Frenchman Pacôme Assi.[3]

SUPERKOMBAT World Grand Prix II 2011 was a kickboxing event held by the SUPERKOMBAT Fighting Championship on July 16, 2011 at the Sala Sporturilor in Constanța, Romania.[4]
Background
A four-man heavyweight tournament took place, featuring Mighty Mo, Mladen Brestovac, Sebastian Ciobanu and Ismael Londt. Carter Williams fought Romanian Marian Iordan in the reserve bout. Romanian K-1 veteran Cătălin Moroșanu took on Stefan Leko in a heavyweight super fight. Rising Romanian star Bogdan Stoica fought in a WAKO-Pro Intercontinental Cruiserweight Non-Title Match against Dutch-based Turkish Hakan Aksoy. His elder brother, Andrei Stoica, fought Henriques Zowa in a super cruiserweight super fight.[4]

SUPERKOMBAT World Grand Prix III 2011 was a kickboxing event held by the SUPERKOMBAT Fighting Championship on October 1, 2011 at the Sala Polivalentă Danubius in Brăila, Romania.[5]
Background
The tournament pitted Ricardo van den Bos against Pavel Zhuravlev and Stefan Leko against Sebastian van Thielen in the semi finals. The winner advanced to the year end World Grand Prix in Darmstadt. Five other fights in the heavyweight division also featured on the card. Redouan Cairo fought Frank Muñoz. Another fighter, heavyweight Benjamin Adegbuyi of Romania fought Martin Hauser of Slovakia.[5]

SUPERKOMBAT World Grand Prix IV 2011 was a kickboxing event held by the SUPERKOMBAT Fighting Championship on October 15, 2011 at the Sala Polivalentă in Piatra Neamț, Romania.[6]
Background
For the tournament, Erhan Deniz faced Angelis Konstantinos of Greece in one semi-final and Wendell Roche faced Marian Baryła of Poland in the other. In other action on the card, Bogdan Stoica returned from a leg injury to fight Leon Miedema. The fight was at cruiserweight. Also on the card was Romanian fighter Sebastian Ciobanu, who fought Dutch-based Ali Cenik of Turkey along with K-1 veteran Cătălin Moroșanu who was slated to be on the card against Dutch-based Moroccan Ibrahim Aarab. Bob Sapp fought Alexandru Lungu in the main event.[6]

Background
Among the participants in an eight-man heavyweight tournament were K-1 veterans Errol Zimmerman, Ben Edwards and Stefan Leko. The reserve match was Slavo Polugić vs. Corneliu Rus. It's Showtime Heavyweight Champion, Hesdy Gerges, returned to action in a fight against Rico Verhoeven.[7]
