Official Logo- Hybrutos Racing

Hybrutos Racing is an official community of racing enthusiasts from SRM University, India passionate to design and fabricate racing vehicles for competitive events all over the world. Team Hybrutos Racing is working on its hybrid prototype Fury I. It will be unveiled during Sept 2015(tentatively). For 2016 season Hybrutos Racing Team will head to Formula Hybrid Competition held at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, USA.Formula Hybrid is widely regarded as the most complex and challenging of the SAE CDS competitions. Building on the Formula SAE program, it adds several layers of complexity and provides an extraordinary engineering challenge to student teams. The Formula Hybrid Competition was founded by Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth in 2006. Thayer School runs the event each year, and the competition carries the endorsement of the Society of Automotive Engineers, Inc. (SAE) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc. (IEEE).

Cansat Research Team SRM Vaimaanix

SRM Vaimaanix Logo

SRM Vaimaanix is an official team of Cansat research into the design and fabrication of can-sized satellites to monitor the environment. The team participates in Annual Cansat Competition organized by NASA, AIAA, AAS, Navel research lab. ,every year. Every year new set of team is selected by the ex- team members of the team for the participation of the competition. Team SRM Vaimaanix secured worldwide 5th rank award and 1st rank in Asia,[16] from total of 72 teams from different part of the world.

Payload and container

The team is blessed with faculty support from Dr. K.A. Sunitha and Mr. Vasanthakumar sekar from the Department of EIE, SRM University.[17] The students in the team are from department of Aerospace, EIE, ECE, Telecommunication of SRM University.

The overall cansat system is composed of two primary components, a Science Vehicle and a re-entry Container that protects the vehicle during ascent, "near-apogee" deployment from the rocket and initial re-entry/descent. When the Science Vehicle is released from the Container, it shall use passive helicopter/auto-gyro recovery method reduce its descent rate to less than 10 meters/second. The Science Vehicle must stabilize and descend properly at a minimum altitude of 300 meters. During descent, the Science Vehicle shall record video in the nadir (Earth pointing) direction until it lands. The video camera must be stabilized in real time during descent so that the video image of the ground is not spinning. The video can be recorded on board for downloading after recovery. The video cannot be post processed to remove the spin of the ground image. The Science Vehicle shall collect telemetry data during descent which includes; altitude based on barometric air pressure, outside air temperature, inside temperature, flight software state, stabilization parameters, battery voltage, and bonus telemetry. The data shall be transmitted at a 1 Hz rate to a ground station.[18]

After Cansat Reaches ground it stops communication and audio alarm is triggered for its recovery.

The Camber Racing team was formulated in September 2009 to compete in on-track student events organised by SAE India and Formula SAE. SAE or the 'Society of Automotive Engineers' is the world governing body on automotive and related fields. With passion and commitment, the students work as a team to design, build, test and compete an open-wheeled formula style race car. Since the team's formation, four such cars have been developed  : CR800, LJM01, The Beast and CR14. Keeping in mind future competitions, the team has started work on the next car: "CR15".

SUPRA SAEINDIA competition is organised by SAE INDIA and is the largest student engineering competition in India. The concept behind the competition is that a fictional manufacturing company has contacted a design team to develop a small Formula style race car. The prototype is to be evaluated for its potential. The target marketing group for the car is the nonprofessional weekend autocross racer. Each team designs and produces a prototype based on well laid down rules and regulations. The competition comprises seven events: Cost and Manufacturing Analysis, Presentation, Design, Acceleration, Skid Pad, Autocross, and Endurance.

The Formula SAE competition is organised by the Society of Automotive Engineers and is held in UK, USA, Germany, Italy, Austria, Australia, Spain, Brasil.

In 2011, in SUPRA SAEINDIA competition, the team was ranked 2nd in Marketing Presentation and finished in 24th out of 40 team participating. In 2012, SUPRA SAEINDIA competition was held in Buddha International Circuit, the team emerged as the national champion by securing the Overall 1st position as well as 2nd position in Endurance, 2nd pstion in Autocross and 2nd position in Skid-pad event.

SUPRA was not conducted in 2013.

In 2014, SUPRA SAEINDIA was conducted in Madras Motorsports Race Track, Chennai. Camber Racing successfully defended national championship by securing overall 1st position and awards like 1st position in Fuel economy, 1st position in Skid Pad, 2nd position in Endurance

The team participated in Formula Student Germany 2015 held in Hockenheimheimring with its car 'CR15'. Currently, the team is preparing for Formula Student India 2016 and working on next year's car, the 'CR16'.
