SOFIA (band)
History
SOFIA (Band) is an alternative rock band formed by Andrés Vilensky, Alan Wurman, Gabriel Roitman and Rodrigo Chame in Santiago de Chile in 2007. Gabriel Wurman, the bass player joined afterwards. They recorded their first EP that year making their first public appearance along with the release of this 4 track album in December. They continued performing during 2008 and promoting their music until they won the first prize in the UK based website SliceThePie in September. This prize granted them £15000 to record their first album "Dayenu" and online distribution on amazon.com, iTunes, among others. Later that year, they had their first TV appearance on La Red on a show called Así Somos They also got more recognition from the site Ourstage.com, achieving the first place in the modern rock channel in October 2009 while recording the album. Gabriel Wurman left the band in 2009 and Gabriel Roitman in 2010, but Cristián Contreras, the bass player joined in January 2010 and Rene Roco, a guest musician replaced Gabriel Roitman on the guitar for a few months.
