Ryan Murphy (born October 14, 1992) is an American football strong safety for the Denver Broncos of the National Football League (NFL). He played in college for the Oregon State Beavers. He was selected in the seventh round of the 2015 NFL draft by the Seattle Seahawks.
Professional career
Seattle Seahawks
On Saturday, May 2, 2015, Murphy was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks with the 248th pick in the seventh round of the 2015 NFL Draft.[1] The Seahawks waived him on September 5 as part of final roster cuts.[2]
Denver Broncos
The Denver Broncos signed Murphy to their practice squad on November 3, 2015.[3]
On February 2, 2016, he (along with his brother) was involved in a prostitution sting in San Jose, California. Though he was not arrested, Murphy was held for questioning.[4] In California for Super Bowl week, the Broncos sent him back to Denver excluding him from any further preparation for Super Bowl 50.[5]
The Broncos won Super Bowl 50 and Murphy earned his first Super Bowl ring.
