Russell Thornton is a Canadian poet. His book House Built of Rain was a shortlisted nominee for the Dorothy Livesay Poetry Prize and the ReLit Awards in 2003,[1] and his collection Birds, Metals, Stones and Rain was a shortlisted nominee for the Governor General's Award for English-language poetry at the 2013 Governor General's Awards,[2] the 2014 Raymond Souster Award[3] and the 2014 Dorothy Livesay Poetry Prize.[4]

He is based in North Vancouver, British Columbia.
