He resigned his position as leader on May 9, 1986 after being arrested and charged with selling cocaine to an undercover police officer.[1][2] He subsequently resigned his seat in the legislature on October 31 after pleading guilty to cocaine trafficking, and was sentenced to three years in prison.[2][3]
He later moved to Drayton Valley, Alberta, where he served on the municipal council.[4] He died on June 24, 2013 in Drayton Valley.[5]
