Roger Brown & Swing City was an American country music group that was formed by frontman Roger Brown in Nashville, TN. Their first and only EP was released on Decca Records (Decca/MCA #55203) on July 16, 1996.[1]
Roger Brown & Swing City's debut EP is western swing that melds the classic country stylings into the line-dancing craze of the 1990s. Brown toured and his ten piece band of virtuoso musicians. His studio recordings featured the talents of Beegie Adair on piano, Tommy Allsup and Kenny Bell on guitar, Sonny Garrish and Tommy White on steel, Bob Mater on drums, Jonathan Yudkin on fiddle, and a host of others musicians staying true to the highly skilled musical demands of the western swing genre. Brown's songwriting skills remain impressive today. As stated by Thom Owens of Allmusic ″it's easy to hear why his songs were recorded by many artists of the early '90s. Roger Brown & Swing City is a terrific, fun slice of dance music. The only thing wrong with it is that it's too short—after it's finished, you'll wish it was a full-length album″.[2]
