St. Louis/Los Angeles Rams

On April 30, 2012, he was signed with the St. Louis Rams as an undrafted free agent.[3] As a rookie McLeod led the Rams in special teams tackles and one first down reception off of a fake punt. Before the start of the 2013 season, the St. Louis Rams announced that McLeod would be their starting free safety.

McLeod improved in both the 2013 and 2014 seasons cementing his starting position in the Rams secondary. He garnered league wide attention for a hit he made on Denver Broncos receiver Emmanuel Sanders in Week 12 of the 2014 season. The hit resulted in Sanders leaving the game due to a head injury. McLeod was not fined for the hit as it was deemed to be clean by the league office. In 2015 he had his best season to date being ranked 9th in coverage and 4th in tackling amongst all safeties in the NFL by Pro Football Focus.
