Ritratto di borghesia in nero (also known as Nest of Vipers and Portrait of a Bourgeois in Black) is a 1978 Italian drama film directed by Tonino Cervi.[1] It is based on the short story The Piano Teacher by Roger Peyrefitte.[2][3]

Plot
The film is set in the Venice of the 1930s, against a background of rising fascism. A music-student, Matthias, mixes with the town's bourgeoisie and falls in love with a mature teacher, Carla, the mother of his friend Renato, and then with his young colleague, Elena. The themes include blackmail, betrayal, seduction, and eventually murder.
There is a notable sapphic scene between Senta Berger and Ornella Muti.[4]
Release
The film, which has an 18 rating, was released on DVD in 2012.[5]
