Ritabrata Banerjee (born 15 November 1978) is the former General Secretary of the Students' Federation of India. Ritabrata Banerjee was elected a Rajya Sabha member from West Bengal on February 2014.
Life
Ritabrata Banerjee has attended school at South Point High School, Kolkata, and gained a BA and MA degree in English at Calcutta University. He is a full-time political activist. [1]
Political career
After Mamata Banerjee became the Chief Minister of West Bengal and her subsequent election to the State Assembly from the Bhabanipur, the Kolkata Dakshin (Lok Sabha constituency) seat was left vacant, then Ritabrata contested the Bye-Election in November 2011, and was beaten by Subrata Bakshi of All India Trinamool Congress by 2,30,099 votes.
In January 2014, he was made a candidate to the Rajya Sabha from West Bengal by his party.
