Rhododendron carolinianum, the Carolina azalea[1] or Carolina rhododendron, is a rhododendron species native to the mountains of North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.[2] It has been suggested that R. carolinianum be incorporated within Rhododendron minus, but the distinction persists. (Collins 2006)
Cultivation
Cultivars include 'Album', 'Carolina Gold', 'Luteum' and 'White Perfection'.[2] R. caroliniaum is the basis of the PJM hybrid (Rhododendron dauricum x Rhododendron carolinianum).
