Resistance and Liberation (short RnL) is a freeware multiplayer World War II-themed first-person shooter modification for Half-Life 2, set to be as realistic as possible, while still being enjoyable to play. First released as version "Alpha 1", the game had been in development by the Resistance and Liberation Development team for three years. The newest version is "Open Beta 1.6", which released on July 31, 2011. The game is since being remade in CryEngine 3 for a standalone release.

Gameplay

The game is based on capturing and holding objectives, such as buildings and trenches. Resistance and Liberation features 'progressive spawning'; a system that automatically changes the place where players spawn, depending on the objectives assigned to them. The mod features ironsights, free-aim and a 3D voice chat for communication but has no HUD or death messages nor scoreboard. The two teams, Axis and Allies, are divided into four squads, and each squad has a different composition of classes, ranging from NCO to rifleman to machine gunner.
