Reichlingia annae is a species of tarantula, and the single species of the genus Reichlingia. It is a member of the Ischnocolinae[1] and comes from Belize. The species was described in 1997 as Acanthopelma annae by Steven B. Reichling, but then changed to Reichlingia by Rudloff in 2001. Its species name, annae, comes from Steven's wife, Ann, who helped with the arachnological investigation.[2]
Characteristics
The male is characterized by incrassate palpal tibia, preapical embolar process, and unmodified tibial spurs. The female is characterized by a unique abdominal pattern. Both genders are characterized by short posterior segments on lateral spinnerets[3]
